Miss Hobbs

Class 1 teacher/SENCO

Welcome to Class 3...

Where you will find a mixture of year 3 and year 2 children, Miss Hobbs, (Assistant Headteacher, SENCo and class teacher) teaching assistants Mrs McCabe and Mrs Robinson and Learning support assistants, Mrs O'Toole and Mrs Thewlis.

Important information:

  • PE - Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning: Please leave your PE kit in school all week incase the time table changes (Please ensure earrings are removed before PE lessons otherwise they will have to miss the PE session)

Spellings:

Please look at the relevant spelling scheme overview for your child's year group (to the right). Go to the relevant term and weeks into this term to find out which spelling patterns, rules we are learning and the words that we will be covering. The next spelling test will be held on around Friday 6th March (approximately).

The spelling test will consist of 10 random words from the words learnt over the previous 4 weeks.

Spellings will be learnt in school, but must be practised at home too.

Learning log & Commando Joe:

Our next focus person will be Nellie Bly. Your child has now received a homework sheet detailing 7 week's worth of homework missions (See Nellie Bly sheet below). Please ensure that all of your child's missions are completed and returned by Friday 13th March. The children will then share and celebrate their logs in class.

Topics (see longterm overview below):

Our new topic will be...

How did that blossom become an apple?

Times Table Rockstars:

Your child has now received login details to practise their timestables. School will keep track of their progress. This has been funded by school and is a fun way for the children to practise their tables in preparation for the tables assessment done in year 4.

Purple Mash:

Your child has also received login details for Purple Mash. This is a website with numerous resources to support the teaching of Maths, English, computing, science etc. There are a series of 2Does for your child to practise specific or key skills.

Lexia:

Some children have also received login details for Lexia. This is an intervention program designed to support children who need some extra support with some or all of the following; phonics, spelling, reading and or writing. Please do as often as possible at home in order for your child to reach their target (time allocation) for each week.

Reading:

Please ensure your child reads their individual reading book on a regular basis. As a school we operate the RAG rating system (Red= rarely reads at home, Amber+ reads sometimes at home, Green+ reads frequently at home) to monitor your child's progress. Reading is vital to all apsects of the curriculum and must be suplemented at home.
